Corrections Policy

How we correct our work.

What we correct

We correct factual errors, misleading descriptions, incorrect figures, misspelled names, inaccurate captions, broken source attribution and material omissions that change a reader’s understanding. Minor typographical repairs that do not alter meaning may be made without a formal note.

How to request a correction

Send the article title or URL, identify the exact passage in dispute and provide the evidence that supports the requested change. Useful evidence includes official documents, dated correspondence, photographs, recordings or a clear first-hand account from a person directly involved.

The newsroom reviews the published material, the original reporting notes and the new evidence. The person or organisation affected may be contacted for clarification. A request is assessed on its merits regardless of whether the requester agrees with the article’s conclusions.

How corrections appear

When a material change is made, a correction note is added to the article with the date and a concise explanation. The original publication date remains visible. Substantial updates may also carry an updated date so readers can understand the article’s history.

Corrections do not remove fair criticism or verified information. Requests to erase accurate public-interest reporting are handled separately from corrections and assessed against applicable law, privacy obligations and the integrity of the public record.
